Journey with Dani

 Anil Dani is one poet who expresses in mystified means. The themes he chose also endears the expressions of his poetry. A man of simple ways, his smile endears him to those who dare to make an acquaintance. Dare to - I used, cause, his serious look surely spreads the vibe, approach at your risk. As a poet, he is an endearing soul. His word pictures involve in reality, serves life's cruelty in those lines of elaborated magnanimity.

This poem Godavari Godavari, I find the theme to be engrossing till the last line.
He depicts the greed surrounding the natural abundance as well as suffocated innocence of local tribes. Pain is the universal factor and exploitation is the second reality. Plunge into this imagery to empathise with the drowned realities.

with the waves you adorn

Tiresome it could have been

How long had you been playing with the shimmering moonlight

How long would you bear the boats that

Love thee for
showing your angst
to those romanticists

You are the demon beautified 

Yet ignorant of it

Dear me! your are the saviour for those

who couldn't resist to plod you daily

Though I couldn't find who's the cause
Doubt your capability

Make up you mind and I assure
You could vanish these mothers' angst forever
You may ask how, Dear River Godavari!
Drown those swindlers
who eulogize your beauty to deceit
Wish that might appease the submerged souls



You may ask why...

For we are yet in search

to find whose felony it is

In the name of those sons of soil

who flew bearing the blankets of water

I pray Godavari
For god's sake
Flood the shores!


felony means a crime regarded in the US and many other judicial systems as more serious than a misdemeanour.

అలలతో అలరించి అలరించి
అలసిపొయుంటావు
ఎంతసేపని వెన్నెలతో ఆడుకుంటావు
నీ మీద లాహిరి లాహిరి పాటలు పాడుకుంటూ
తిరుగుతున్న పడవలని ఎంతకాల మోస్తావు

రోజూ నీ మేను మీద కాలు మోపకపొతే
డొక్క నిండదు 

నీ కోపం ఎవరిమీదో అర్ధం కాలెదు కాని
నీ సామర్ధ్యం మీద నాకు అనుమానంగా ఉంది 


నువ్వు తలుచుకుంటే
ఈ రోజు గుండెలవిసేలా రోధిస్తూన్న అమ్మల
ఏడుపులనీ మరలా లేకుండా చేయగలవు

ఎలా అంటావెమో గోదావరి
నీ అందాన్ని చూపిస్తూ మోసం చేస్తున్న
మహామహుల్ని కూడా ముంచెత్తు
అప్పుడైనా ఈ మునిగిపోయిన ప్రాణాలు కాస్త
స్టిమిత పడతాయి

ఎందుకంటే ఇక్కడ నేరం ఎవరిదనే ప్రశ్న కి
సమాధానం మేము ఇంకా వెతుక్కుంటున్నాం
నీటి దుప్పటి కప్పుకుని ఆకాశానికి ఎగిరిపోయిన
ఈ మట్టి మనుషుల సాక్షిగా ఒక్కసారంటే
ఒక్క సారి పొంగు గోదావరి........
